In an early morning accident between a truck of the Coca Cola company and bus sent 15 people to hospital. The accident occurred on the Virilla or "platina" bridge on the autopista General Cañas.

According to the Policía de Tránsito and witnesses, the cause of the accident is when the bus slowed down/stopped to go across the 10cm (4 inch) gap between the bridge spans on the westbound lanes of the autopistas.
The truck driver slammed on the brakes but could not avoid hitting the bus ahead of him.
The accident caused tremendous congestion, more than usual, as traffic backed up past the Hospital México with the closure of one of the two lanes on the bridge.
